Your all insane!!! You need to go huntin or fishing BADDDDD!!! I can’t believe the father of my GRANDCHILDREN is “BLOGGING” about a vacuum cleaner!!! I’ll have to kidnap both the boys when they are about ten to show them where the real fun stuff is found. OUTDOORS in the open spaces with dog and gun, and dust between your teeth and feathers floating on gun smoke laden, frosty air. Oh, I yearn to be there now.

Wow. well done. I’d never heard of “menstruum” or “duumvir.” Residuum is one I knew. But I’d have to say that “duumvir” and “duumvirate” are different derivatives of the same root word.

What dictionary are you using, cause mine doesn’t have “triduum” in it.

There are in fact several English words containing -uu-, all of Latin origin. The most common are vacuum and continuum; the less common ones are menstruum, residuum, triduum, and the distinctly rare duumvir and duumvirate.

and no doubt about it. Teal is far worse than purple, but you have a point – you’re blogging about a vacuum, it doesn’t get much worse.

Hey, and some random trivia. Did you know that Vacuum is one of only three words in the English language with a double “u” in it? Anyone care to take a stab at the other two?
